Only in Philadelphia can I get naked with two black lesbians in the sanctuary of a church and not feel like I’m sinning…. much. Stasia and Cat are the dang glorious members of THEE Satisfaction (and the “living proof that there are black people in Seattle” by the by) and prior to our shared show we are all in the upstairs of the First Unitarian Church trying to figure out what to wear since it’s “hot as hell down there” in the basement venue. Gold lame leggings get decided against. Sequins are a certainly not. We chug water. It’s too hot to think but eventually we all opt for bare legs and our shortest shorts and most billowy tops trying to escape Mister Satan’s hot clutches. Our “breezy” fashion choices don’t help much with the hotness. But since North America’s best-dressed crowd arrives on time, we know we’re gonna have a rager that will rival the furies of the Inferno. We know you’re worth it right from the start. Despite the heat, our fans don the brightest lipsticks and ballerina tutus and slick mini skirts and highest heels. They look gooooooood. And THEE Satisfaction provide them with ample satisfaction, it effortlessly drips off them in fact. Everyone is slick with sweat by the time we go on. And we are swimming in it. I have said this before and I said this again to the crowd from stage but Philadelphia, I will say it again, you might just be my favourite North American city. You have more character and attitude and energy in your one exhilarating city than most of the states have combined. You are raw. You are loud. You know the words to all of our songs and you sing them better than we do. You dance. And you know how to dance. I’m in love with you. I really am. I’m just putting this out there, this is my new campaign but I think you need to make it legal for us all to get married to each other. I promise we’ll have the ceremony at the First Unitarian. And I promise it will be hot as hell. But this time, we’ll all get naked.
